Virtual Stitch 'n Bitch

 Hello All

Please can someone tell me where I can buy double pointed knitting needles on line?  I'm making a return to knitting by knitting my sister's dog a howl (I hope the doggie will be more forgiving of a dropped/ lost stitch here and there) 

Im having to adapt the pattern slightly and use 71/2mm needles- but I cannot find an online shop doing 7 1/2 mm double pointed- anyone out there help??

Hmmm...  It seems that 7.5mm is not a very common size (at least in North Am - where are you located?)  I have a pair of straight 7.5mm but no circulars or dpns and my needle collection is pretty extensive.  An 8mm would be the closest common size.

Have you tried Ebay?  That's where I usually go for knitting needles.  If you really can't find 7.5mm and an 8mm gives you a different gauge, you could adjust the pattern using stitch gauge ratio.  I'm pretty sure someone posted instructions for doing so.

Thanks, I thought it might of just been me!  I've checked ebay and no joy- im located in Ireland and our local shop advised me to try online.  I did find a pair of 7mm double pointed online so will buy them and hope that i can adapt between 7mm and 71/2mm-

Im looking at next step of pattern and trying to puzzle out what it means.  p215 'After you have made the two rectangles, sew them together for 2" from neck edge, leaving 3" unsewn for leg openings; then sew rest together.


This will prob sound silly but...... does that mean measureing two inches from top and then leaving 3 inches for legs but sewing along those 2inches?  Or does it mean sew 2 inches along neck and then leave rest open for neck?

You're sewing your 2 rectangles together lengthwise, to make a tube for doggy's body.  On each side, sew for 2 inches, then leave 3 inches open for leg holes, then sew the rest of the way down the tube.  Does that help?

Hope to have body completed tomorrow and be able to do fitting with pooch before starting on neck & legs :)

It's a super cute pattern, but if I were making it again I'd probably decrease at the body to fit my dog a little better.  The one I made her fits the chest but is a little loose around the tummy.
