I recently found out about and ordered from handpaintedyarn.com to make this:

http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall07/PATTcherieamour.html

THIS arrived today from Uruguay:

The colour is "Amores y Rosas"

I'm thrilled!  It's wonderful and beautiful and soft and lovely, though a bit stinky...  It smells a little chemical-ly - from the dye I guess (?)  Can't wait until those xmas gifts are done to sink my teeth into this one...

You could hand wash the yarn before you knit it, then you could get rid of the smell, and you wouldn't have to worry about ruining whatever you knit with it.

Thank you for the site - I predict I'll be ordering from them one day soon...

Real lemon juice is supposed to remove the smell of fish from your hands so, I guess, a lemon water rinse (cold) would work on the yarn, too.
