Hello all Stitch n Bitchers

Firstly can I just say that I only started knitting about 8months ago (26yr old male) and it was 'Stitch n Bitch' that helped me get started. I owe my current status as 'quite good knitter' all down to SnB.

I was delighted that I got a copy of 'Son of SnB' for Christmas (hardly a surprise considering I bought it as a Christmas present for myself) and am wow-ed by the new patterns. However, I'm a UK knitter, and only 8mths old, and, unfortunately, an Argyle virgin and I was completely baffled by the instructions for the Uncle Argyle Scarf. It looks fantastic, and I have a friend who has shown great interest in it, and I'd really like to knit it for her (in her University colours) but I need some help.

Does anyone know of a 'walkthrough' or an easy-to-read guide on how to do this type of double knitting? Or does anyone know a book that explains it in detail? I'd love to be able to do it, and add another yarn to my knitting bow.

And again, a big thanks to Debbie who got me off to a good start (and an amazing one, considering the ladies at my local knitshop had never seen shadow knitting before, and where gobsmacked at the Alien Scarf).

www.knittinhelp.com
They have a section on double knitting.

Thanks purlgurl.

I do feel like a bit of a dunce considering the video simply states what Debbie states in the book, but I can now visualise it, and see the logisitics of two colours at once. It took me long enough to get the hang of intarsia when I was knitting the Skully sweater from Stitch n Bitch - lol

Thanks again Purlgurl

Double knitting really isn't that hard once you get the hang of it. The Uncle Argyle Scarf is the first double knitting projaect I've done and it's turning out well for me. Hope it does for you too Grin

I just got Son of a SnB too, and I want to knit the same scarf, but I'm having problems. I went online and learned how to double knit, but where I went, they didn't explain about twisting the yarn, as suggested in the book. Also, it seems that when I tried the double knit, which I thought was right, it just looks like a normal two color knit, and it doesn't separate. Is that normal?
Can anyone help me?
Thanks!!!

I posted a reply here:

I found a website with a video on how to double stitch.
http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/advanced-techniques

The video is fourth from the bottom demonstrating with a heart.  Hope this helps.   =)
