ooohh, felting in a laundry machine is great. i just knit loosely and shape whatever it is that i'm making, and then throw it in the washer. shrinkage about 20% and results are awesome! make sure yarn is  100% wool and is not bleached or chemically treated (to avoid for example moth attack on garment)

anyone else doing this? gimme photos... Shocked

Oh, lord I love felting stuff. I have a bookmark that was the first thing I ever felted, a few purses, and a set of star-shaped coasters destined for my boyfriend's place. I have pictures of the bags, but not much else - I'll have to link them next time I'm on. But yes, felting = good stuff.

Ive been planning to try felting, I found a pattern which is good for using up wool.  Problem is, the wool I have i acrylic. Its really soft though, I dont know why, so it really doesnt FEEL like acrylic. Nevertheless, it is. I've heard this doesn't felt up very well, is this true? Also, I heard you could felt acrylic in hot soapy water and that would be better than a machine. Does anyone have any ideas on this, please?
Thanks.

anything acrylic will not felt at all, sorry.
also, some wool yarns that have been treated to avoid moth destruction, eg. chemical treatments on wool will also felt poorly or not at all.
g'luck!

The first three pictures aren't available anymore, but that bag is fantastic!  I just went and bought wool roving to start wet felting...very excited about what I can embroider on the finished project.
Where did you get the fantastic closure?
