Hey there,

I recently tried my hand at making pom poms and I think I must be doing something wrong. Every time I try making one they just end up with two fluffy poofs and a big valley in the middle where I've tied them. I've tried tying them with yarn and with thread and I just cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. Anyone have any tips?

Thanks
Kalla

you may want to make them thicker, so they poof more--and pull the yarn tying em together as tight as you possibly can.

Which way were you making them? Previously I'd only heard of them made using the two circular cardboard (or whatever) discs with holes in the center, where you put the discs together them wrap the yarn around the ring over and over.  The other day, however I heard of a way where you wrap a whole bunch of wool round your fingers, two fingers, or more if you need them bigger (obviously the more fingers you use the more wool you wrap around to make them round). The theory is if you wrap enough yarn around it will look the same as you traditional pom pom by the time you've tied it and cut the hoops. I've never tried this way, but it was a lady who makes them professionally who said it, so it might be worth a go?

I can't quite make them either, so don't feel bad.
