Hey everyone

I'll confess that I'm a bit of a yarn whore...I love yarn, I collect yarn, I crochet yarn, I play with yarn and I knit yarn.  But I've always been a solitary knitter/crocheter and I have to say the idea of sitting around with a like minded group of ladies OR gents, eating yummy home made goodies, guzzling the occasional drop of something I'm probably not allowed to mention on here and knitting up a storm really appeals to me.  I also like the idea of having a group of people for support, feedback, brain picking and the often required but seldom delivered constructive criticism.

Unfortunately I cant seem to find a knitters group in my local area that isn't completely made up of women over 90.  Now dont get me wrong. I love grandmas just as much as the next person, but I want to be able to natter while I knit and chatting about that hip replacement or last weeks bowel movement really isnt my idea of scintillating conversation.  I wanna get down and dirty...lets talk about child raising (if you've got em), lets talk about hating housework, lets talk about social issues, lets talk about that yarn from hell that we just want to burn...hell, lets even talk about sex!

So I was wondering if there are knitters of any skill, reasonable intelligence and quirky personality in the Newcastle area who are under 90 (really, just kidding...90 is fine, but some younger folk would be great in the mix) who want to start up a weekly knitters group with the sole intention of knitting, learning, teaching, nattering, eating yummies, drinking naughties and talking dirties???

Crocheters are also encouraged to respond...in fact, all variations of yarn whore are welcome.

Any takers? Reply to this post PLEASE!

Hello E McW,

With regards to your request for the knitted lace book, if you haven't purchased it yet you should try your local library - they usually have lots of knitting and crochet books (well mine does including the Estonian lace book but I am from Tassie). My local library has kept me entertained for years.....if they don't have the book, request it and they may buy it in for you. Best part about the borrowing system is that they are free, and therefore more money to buy more wool! Yay!

Cheers
