i'm about to graduate from college and live home in wyckoff, nj in bergen county full time and i was wondering if there are any fellow knitters out there who'd be interested in starting up a group

i've recruited one friend and am working on another but i'd love to learn of more knitters in the area!! my mom is in a knitting group but i've had trouble finding knitters more in my age range

anyone interested let me know! thanks!  Smiley

Hi,

I just saw your post and also live in Wyckoff, NJ.  I'm not in your age group as I have grade-school kids, but I was interested in knowing what group your mom goes to.

Thanks for any info,

My mom goes to a knitting group that meets at the yarn store Knitter's Euphorium: 47 Hamburg Turnpike, Riverdale, NJ 07457 (off 287, it's about 15 minutes away from Wyckoff if you don't know the area it's easy to mapquest it or I can give you directions)

They meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 and are always welcome to new members, it's a very nice yarn store and if you go there at any time they'll help you with a project or let you just sit and knit...best thing is that unlike a lot of stores in the area there is no fee to go to the knitting nights.

hope that helps!

Thanks so much for your quick reply!  I have been to that store in Riverdale and took a class there.  I agree-they are VERY nice and extremely helpful.  I know they have knit groups, but haven't gone as Thurs. can be tough for me.  Its good to know they also have it on Tues.--maybe I'll meet your mom there one of these days!

Hi, this is the "mom"...my daughter let me know about your interest in finding a local group.  I'm always interested in talking about knitting and getting together with new people, I look forward to seeing you there!  (I usually go on Thursdays, they have started not being open on Tuesdays as much, just so you know)

I'm also open to setting up a different group that meets at another time if you are interested...let me know!

Hello,

Thanks for your post.  I would be interested in a group.  wouldn't it be nice somewhere with coffee?  I doubt we could pull it off at Starbucks in town. Huh

The yarn store in Hohokus has Wednesday morning knitting group over the summer, but I always seem to have something going on.  That store is also open to having a group meet there. I've run into people there who just stopped in to sit & knit, so they're pretty flexible.

my direct email address is Talking3@aol.com

take care

Okay, so again I am not in your age group either, but did your mom ever start a local group?  I am in Allendale.  I thought Panera Bread's Community Room would be a good place to meet.  Have your mom reply.  But also consider knitting with a group of women who are all different ages.  I am thinking of starting a Meet Up group for knitting and this might locate more knitters in our area.  Anyway, I hope either you or your mom is interested in getting together.  I read a lot of the kntting blogs and am so jealous of the knitters who get together ona regular basis.

To Jess: Nothing ever came of it unfortunately...I have such a hard time finding people in their 20's around here.  Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places!  There is a stitch&bitch group that meets Thursday nights at 7 at the Montclair knitting store Modern Yarns, and I've heard there is at least one younger girl our age.  BUT if you have some friends or if you just want to try getting together the two of us at starbucks or something let me know, I'm always up for knitting!

To Momio329:  My mom was going to a stitch&bitch at the store The Knitter's Emporium in Riverdale for awhile on Thursday nights but I think that the store owner stopped having it, at least for the summer.  She has been meeting with with some friends at their houses since then, but like I said to Jess there is also a free stitch&bitch group at Modern Yarns in Montclair on Thursday.  Very cute store by the way if you've never been there, they have a website if you google the store name.  I'll let her know someone is interested though.  We're in Wyckoff and if you are going to start something up let me know!  Again like I said, I'm always up for meeting new knitters, and so is my mom!

happy to hear from some area knitters!  hope to hear back from you again soon Grin

Hey guys, I'm still looking for a good knitting group too.  I'm in my twenties and don't have any friends who knit!  If you guys start anything please let me know.

Also check out Stix and Stitches in Montclair - Yarn Heaven!!!! Like I said I don't really care about age, as long as you knit.  I am going forward with the Meetup Group, probably at the Ramsey Panera.  Any night better for those who are interested?

Hey there,

Any luck finding a group?  I'm new to knitting and am interested in a local SnB with some variety in the age-range.
